Frequently Asked Questions
These are real questions asked by interested writers and clients about
our business. If you do not see your question listed below, please
email us and we will try to answer you as quickly as possible..
Do the writers you hire get bylines?
When I am negotiating with a client, I do everything I can to have
them give writers bylines. The bottom line is: some clients allow them,
some don't. As a writer, I hate it when I write something and don't get
credit for it. I like to put as much of my writing as I can in my portfolio,
and it just doesn't look right when my name isn't there. However, the
client makes the final decision on this topic.
I find it hard to believe that clients are coming to this company
because they need writers. Writers are all over the Internet seeking
jobs. There are numerous professional web sites specifically for
writers including MediaBistro, JournalismJobs, CraigsList, Absolute
Write, Writers Weekly and many more. Why would they come to you?
Most of my clients have told me they advertised for a project and were
flooded with responses and did not have time to go through all of
them. That is where I come in. I provide the writers and have already
gone through various samples to find the best fit. My company's
reputation is on the line, so I have to provide writers who are capable
and eager in order to satisfy my clients or those clients will not be back.
I have a question about the pay. Do writers have to pay to be included
in your database? If chosen for a project, what does the writer get,
and what is the total amount the client is willing to pay? How much
does TWBS get? How do you pay? Do you have a contract with the
"client" for certain rights? How about the writer?
The pay I list when I am in need of writers is what the writer will be paid
for that project. I receive 10% over that. I do not charge a writer, and
they know what they will be paid for an article before they accept or
decline a project. Yes, I do have a contract with the client but none with
the writers. The contracts are individualized for each client and
everything that is discussed and agreed to is there and confidential. I
pay writers once I receive a check from the client and it clears my
bank. I pay either by check mailed or PayPal, whichever the writer
prefers.
Couldn't you get a more professional-looking website? If this is a
legitimate company, why are there so many advertisements on the
site, and why does the site look "messed up" when viewed by certain
browsers?
First of all, we are still a relatively new company with few full-time
employees. In an effort to minimize our overhead costs and allow
more money to go into the pockets of our writers, this inexpensive
Web site was done by my myself and a friend to answer questions and
act as an advertisement for this business. We never claimed to be
master web designers. However, now that the business is beginning to
justify such an expense, we are in the process of having the Web site
redone. I am receiving quotes now and once I decide which company
will best fit our needs at the best price, there will be no more pop-ups
on the site and it will look far more professional to all visitors. We ask
that you be patient and keep in mind that we are primarily writers, not
Web site designers. Please e-mail us if you experience problems with
the site.
